Masterson’s Lounge, positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my recent visit at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The Condition of the Premises : Filthy and Disregarded
From the moment I walked in , it was apparent that cleanliness was not a priority at this venue. The surfaces were tacky , and a nauseating aroma of old alcohol and dirty bathrooms filled the entire bar . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , putrefaction and sour vomit . The main bar, which should be the primary feature of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and litter that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The toilet was in even a more revolting state — backed up, with a broken handle and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was human excrement .
It wasn’t just a single bad experience either. From reading other reviews and speaking with locals , it seems that the quality of upkeep (or lack thereof) at this bar is a persistent problem . Many customers have reported seeing bugs darting across the drink station and proof of vermin in the storage spaces .
